Celebrating 30,000 recycled mattresses!

SpringBack Nashville is thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our journey towards environmental sustainability and community impact. We have successfully recycled 30,000 mattresses, a testament to our commitment to reducing waste and promoting a greener planet.

Each mattress recycled represents not only a step towards a cleaner environment but also a positive change in the lives of the men we employ. At SpringBack, we believe in providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. Our employees gain essential work experience in managing people, processes, and time, all while contributing to a meaningful cause.

Our recycling process is thorough and efficient. We receive mattresses from various sources, including retailers, universities, hotels, government institutions, and individuals, creating an alternative to landfills. When the mattresses arrive, a technician disassembles them, separating the foam, steel, cotton, and felt. Each material is placed in its own material bailer and then sold to respective material buyers. These recycled materials are repurposed into well-known products such as carpet underlay, insulation, and new metal goods.

SpringBack can recycle over 90% of each mattress and box spring received, giving new life to old materials that would otherwise occupy valuable landfill space. Additionally, each SpringBack location is partnered with a non-profit organization that supports workers holistically, providing invaluable support as they “spring back” into society.

Currently, there are four SpringBack locations, resulting in jobs for over 20 men. In 2014 alone, SpringBack recycled over 4 million pounds of material. Each center is unique to its community, so please contact your local SpringBack to learn more about its mission and how you can support its efforts. SpringBack hopes to continue its growth throughout the United States. If you believe SpringBack is a good fit for your community, please reach out to us.
